- As its Leo’s 6 week old birthday I decided to show you the stages he went through after his amputation. They were taken up to day 14 I think and the last picture is today’s image!
I hope u may find them interesting!
He was very groggy when he got home but mum was happy to take him back and feed him.
Leo was weighing well 3 Xs day although on some feeds he dropped a few grams although in a 24 hour period he still gained between 30-40grams so we weren’t worried.
The wound started to change colour. The white flakes was the glue coming away. He was still a happy camper! At this point Leo started being very sick with the antibiotics so the vet told us to ditch them.
Still our little man never complained once and although had heat pads he never really felt or looked uncomfortable. Still no pain killers required for our little hero!
Day 5 wound is look crusty but clean and mums doing a grand job keeping him happy!
Day 6! We applied a little pure aloe Vera to his wound and around his tummy as it was rather dry.
As you can see the wound looks much less dry and more supple now!
Day 8 wound looks awesome and he’s get a real fat belly to match!
Day 9 scabbing over now and stitches beginning to dissolve!
Not sure what happened to day 10!
Wound looking fantastic and he’s slowly shuffling around! (Aged 2 weeks one day)
Day 12 most of the glue is off and stitches are pretty much gone now!
Wounds look amazing and our little man is doing fantastic!
Then we hit a snag. Leo’s wound burst open at 3.5 weeks. Our vet said the internal stitches hadn’t dissolved so as Leo had grown his stitches eventually snapped. So back to the vet for a stitch!
Today his wound looks like this 3 weeks on! It’s very neat and very clean!
Its important to remember our Leo was a very young pup so his development has been set back a little compared to his siblings but a small price to pay for him being happy!
Tried to turn his pictures around but struggled so gave up lol 😍
I love you Leo your my hero!
