Such innocent faces that cause heaps of trouble!
Sometimes I feel like I am banging my head against the wall. Seems like having to beg my vet is starting to be quite common and it’s getting very frustrating.
The way I see it, Leo is 6 weeks and 4 days old. That means his bones haven’t developed yet which in my eyes means any issues we can help and change. But in 6 months time he maybe in trouble and then need surgery am I completely paranoid?
This pup I adore with every part in my body…. I owe it to him to get the very best help and prevent anymore surgery!
Thanks for the dose of cuteness! Needed that today!
No, you are not being paranoid! You are right to be concerned about Leo being able to adapt while still growing and developing motor skills.
Do you have a Rehab Specialist in your area who can help guide you?
I guess a lpt of “trust” is involved at this point. Trust that Leo will adapt almost on an “instinctive” level. Maybe he won’t have a showdog stance, and he may even develop a bit of arthritis earlier than some dogs, but that’s all manageable.
For now, just enjoy Leo enjoying being Leo. Know that things will work out, that always do! You and Leo have come together for a purpose. The Univw doesn’t make mistakes when it comes to bonds like this!
Hugs!
Sally and Alumni Happy Hannah and Merry Myrtle and Frankie too!
I know thats the hard bit the waiting and praying. I have been told my rehab vet he doesnt need any help as he had his leg removed. i am at a very frustrated brick wall at the moment for sure!
I just adore him so much i just want him to have a normal life and live it to the fullest x Thank you for the Hugs needed them to! X
OMG SO CUTE!!!!!
You are absolutely not crazy, and if your vet is not making you happy then it’s time to find another one. I think you’ll benefit from reading Dr. Kay’s books, see:

Just feel like we are made to feel daft and yet yes we are kind of clueless having a Tripawd for the first time. But not on the breed or development of collie pups. And that’s the sad part as his brother n sister are following mum out to the toilet now and toileting outside except for one or 2 accidents over night. Then Leo tries to do very little and doesn’t follow the pack so to speak.. And yet tries so hard but walks around in circles. I said to the vet I would expect a little more out of him by now not that I am rushing him at all just don’t want him to be left behind. Boris the other sable is extremely out going with no thought for anyone but the little tri girl is often sat encouraging him and kissing him and if he won’t sleep in bed she won’t either.
Just feel so frustrated grrrr lol
I am a positive upbeat person nothing gets to me much and I take everyday in my stride but just feel like Leo is left at a stand still not progressing further but because he’s not going downhill they are not bothered much with him 🙁
can you contact Duncan at eastcott referrals for his opinion? I’m guessing as Leo is so young then it will be a waiting and guessing game as to how his musculoskeletal system will cope as he ages. But i would imagine that for him its all normal and he won’t know any different. It may be that rehab isn’t advisable until he has more bone rather than cartilage as bones only develop due to the stresses and strains that the soft tissues place upon them. You might find a local canine osteopath, check on the internet under SOAP the society of animal osteopaths. The european school of osteopathy has just started a new course and their tutors are very experienced, I’m sure you could get some good advice from them. I would also recommend Stuart McGregor in Wantage, he is very experienced.
Good luck with Leo the super pup, love the photos
Thank you L1lly For all that advise i can follow up all that tomorrow!
I would like to know what Leos problem was/is. I think we have some problems alone with our beloved dogs
The only problem Leo had was a paranoid mum! Thankfully at 5 months old now he’s full of himself and doing much better 😊
